THE STORY OF SHIFT

Over the last few years, getting to know and work with dozens of companies across varying industries, a pattern emerged. Managers, supervisors—sometimes even directors and VPs—were in leadership roles purely due to their tenure, not because they were thoughtfully and intentionally equipped to lead.

Taking a thoughtful, closer look into the personalities and skillsets of team members - their communication style (when and how they were understood—and also misunderstood), their areas of ownership within the business and, probably the most revealing of all, how they - personally - defined leadership; I discovered we had a lot to learn but also we had so much to unlearn.

Those conversations became the spark for creating and writing training, then leading company-wide classes and workshops which redefined what leadership could look and feel like. Those sessions launched hundreds of candid, energizing discussions within organizations across the country—conversations which ultimately led to the creation of SHIFT.

SHIFT is me - living up to my name, my calling.

My name, Jason, from the Greek means, "one who heals" or "a healer."

As a healer… teacher, writer, business leader or, as I like to think of it, an emotional engineer, I believe my calling is to help others show up and lead differently. An intentional shift in how you approach leadership can bring others alongside you, creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.

BACKSTORY & BIO

Jason’s background is in leadership training, employee development, conflict resolution, and communication. After almost 20 years in New York City, he packed up everything he owned in July, 2021 and moved to Arizona to “just do life” with some of his closest friends. His adventure going West also meant leaving behind a 15+ year career with The Container Store—in roles which refined his perspective on leadership and communication in real life.

Jason found CYBER, one of - if not the - most respected construction companies in Arizona, specializing in home technology and integration. CYBER wasn't looking for a traditional HR manager. Across the industry, they were already known for their strong culture but wanted someone who would help build on that foundation; expanding on both the meaning of care in business and the employee experience. Jason stepped in as CYBER’s first Employee Experience Manager in the Fall of 2022 and, later, as the Director of Employee Experience. He helped guide and build the company’s training curriculum from the ground up—not around tasks or job descriptions, but rooted in a genuine care for people, first.

In the Spring of 2023, with CYBER’s blessing and guidance, Jason began sharing this training with other like-minded companies through The Guild Integrators Alliance. This Alliance and industry events helped create the foundation for what is now SHIFT.

Jason lives in Phoenix, Arizona and currently serves as CYBER’s Chief Experience Officer (CXO).
